This post contains the questions that the Association received for the June 10th, 2019 Cardinal Creek Village Annual General Meeting, and any follow-up responses that have been received following the meeting.
Some questions have been edited for brevity or combined where they covered the same topic.

When can we expect to have proper traffic lanes at the intersection of Laporte Ave & Old Montreal Road? In fact, that whole stretch from the trim road roundabout going east needs to be redone and as soon as possible. Where possible, especially knowing the poor quality of paint, "Cat's Eyes" should be embedded in the pavement to improve road safety
The 4-way stop at the intersection formed by Laporte Avenue, Mishawashkode St and Minoterie Ridge is a dangerous intersection especially from vehicles travelling on Laporte. The pedestrian crosswalk and stop markings were paved over last December and no longer provide a visual indicator. Can this be looked at as as safety issue
We'd like to see the newly paved pathway between Baie-des-Castors and Park & Ride being swept by a street sweeper in the next few weeks, and at least once once a year in the the spring
We'd like to see the pathway between Park & Ride and Minoterie Ridge being maintained in the winter time, to better serve the walkers/commuters to and from the Park & Ride.
A sidewalk is much needed on the north side of Old Montreal Road, between Famille-Laporte and Dairy Lane. It is a high traffic area and walking is not really safe there
No matter the time of day issues to turn into or trying to exit de la famille Laporte avenue onto Old Montreal Road are a challenge. Turning right or left is difficult due to signage posted on either side of the streets. If driver are looking to the right or left oncoming traffic is blocked by Capital city Church signage, green electrical box, Tamarack signage. A flashing amber light above would be helpful. Transports, construction traffic coming in and out are a challenge. What can be done to help this issue.
There has been quite an increase in overgrowth/weeds - including poisonous varieties (eg. wild parsnip), notably in behind homes located on Minoterie Ridge. They are not only affecting the safety of the pathway areas, but are also now making their way onto people’s property - particularly dangerous for the young kids in the neighbourhood. When we purchased we were all told that while the path wouldn’t be winter maintained the landscaping would (but later found out) that the landscaping will now be wild and not maintained. Are Tamarack or city plans to address this? What should we do as homeowners?
Many residents have (called) the city’s 311 call centre (regarding an) ongoing issue of a water leak on both sides of a sidewalk leading to the children’s splash pad. This has never been addressed or repaired and discolouration from the soil leaks onto the sidewalk. City staff who were working in the park last summer who I spoke with took photos at that time and confirmed they would address the issue. I am raising this matter to your level and as our councillor would appreciate your authority to raise and have the matter re-examined
Is the City of Ottawa going to increase bus frequency of the 221? Twice a day is not enough to encourage persons to use public transit and residents are forced to drive to the Park and Ride. alternatively, will the City increase bus frequency from place d’Orléans to Trim.
Would the city consider putting a stop sign at Baie des Castors and Famille Laporte, so that residents can cross Famille Laporte to get to the park? Traffic to Laporte Nursery is heavy on weekends. And also - what about speed bumps on Famille Laporte?
Do we have an update on the proposed Phoenix subdivision
Please provide an update on the two future proposed schools in the neighbourhood
At the corners of cartographe street and de la famille Laporte avenue do you have plans to clean up the debris and do a general clean up? Lot 34 as you per site map refers and along the same stretch where a proposed school is slated
When will the construction site office be relocated? Will a clean up be completed soon after it’s relocation?
Any updates on the future commercial development area?
Has Tamarack transferred maintenance of Millstone Park to the city?
Construction traffic continues to come up Mishawashkode instead of taking the ‘back roads’. I live on Cartographe near the park and constantly hear the trucks making their way up the street toward the construction area. Not only is it very noisy, but there have been 2 cases where I witnessed workers (probably driving their personal vehicle) ignore the stop sign and go straight through the intersection
Are there still plans for the “future pond”? What’s the status?
What kind of dwellings is considered medium density?
When will the proposed park (corner of Cardinal Creek and Famille Laporte) be completed?
